Leaders of teachers, students and youth organisations have urged the Andhra Pradesh government to remove the minimum qualifying marks criteria for the candidates appearing for the Mega DSC- 2025 examinations.

Democratic Youth Federation of India’s (DYFI) State president Y. Ramu and secretary G. Ramanna led a protest, participated by the DSC aspirants at Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada on Friday, demanding the removal of eligibility restrictions for SC, ST and BC candidates.

Opposing the norm that the candidates should have obtained 45% marks in Intermediate and 50% in degree and post-graduation, they pointed out that in Telangana, candidates with 40% marks were allowed to write the recruitment test.

Referring to the ‘vast syllabus’, they demanded extension of the exam preparation time to 90 days and urged the authorities to consider other examinations while scheduling the DSC.

‘Toll-free number not working’

They also wanted the officials to ensure consistency in the examination papers across the districts, increase the maximum age limit of the candidates to 47 years and improve online application and support systems, pointing out that the websites and toll-free numbers provided by the authorities were not functioning properly.

Hemanth Kumar also urged that the educational qualification criterion be reduced to 40% for the SC, ST, BC candidates and 45% for OC candidates, increase the number of posts in districts like Srikakulam, Anantapur, Nellore and Prakasam, and give a wide publicity about physically handicap and backlog posts to ensure opportunities for all candidates.

In a representation made to the Director of School Education V. Vijay Rama Raju, members of Navyandhra Teachers’ Association led by its state president K. Harikrishna and general secretary M. Srinivasa Rao pointed out that the DSC aspirants had been waiting for this recruitment drive for seven years and keeping their woes in mind, the government should consider relaxations with regard to the qualification, age bar and other key aspects.

Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) from East and West Godavari Techers’ Constituency B. Gopi Murthy has urged the officials to consider relaxation of norms to ensure that maximum number of job aspirants benefit by this recruitment drive.
