Andhra Pradesh Public Transport Department (AP PTD) Employees Union (EU) has opposed the proposed shifting of APSRTC Credit Co-operative Society (CCOS) office from its current location at RTC House and demanded that the Management Committee provide justification for the move.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Employees Union state president P. Damodara Rao and general secretary G.V. Narasayya said that the office space at the RTC House was originally allocated to the CCOS with an intent to serve all APSRTC employees. The facility came rent-free and was equipped with amenities like electricity, internet and maintenance, arranged for the convenience of the employees by the then Managing Director.

They alleged that the current National Mazdoor Union (NMU)-dominated Managing Committee had purchased a flat on the sixth floor of an apartment located 8-km from the RTC House, allegedly for over ₹3.5 crore, with ₹30 lakh spent on registration alone. They said this transaction was reportedly carried out secretly using CCOS funds and this was confirmed during a CCOS board meeting in response to a question raised by an EU-affiliated board member, they said.

The EU leaders said despite an assurance by the CCOS Chairman and APSRTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao that the office would not be relocated, the registration of the new property was carried out in secrecy 10 days ago. They warned that any attempt to shift the office to a new location using force, may lead to State-wide protests.
