Woman injured after wild elephant gives chase

A 52-year-old woman tea plantation worker was injured after a wild elephant chased her at Kallar, near Munnar, in Idukki on Thursday. The injured woman has been identified as Shiny, a resident of Aarumuri Layams (cluster homes) at Nallathanni near Munnar.

According to local residents, the incident occurred around 7.30 a.m when Shiny was on her way to the tea plantation along with other workers. When a wild elephant, which was standing on the road, gave chase, Shiny fell down and was injured. Other workers narrowly escaped. The injured woman was admitted to a private hospital in Munnar.
