The perfect heist movie needs three things: a ridiculously overcomplicated plan, a team of criminals with more unresolved trauma than talent, and at least one scene where someone says “we’ve got a problem” right after things inevitably go to shit. Bonus points if there’s a safecracker who listens to classical music while committing felony burglary and a double-cross so predictable it could be spotted by a drunk raccoon.

Now, the Hyena Heist slot from Gaming Corps may be missing a few of those plot beats, but it does have a team of Hyenas as its main cast, which is something new.

The Hyena Heist slot features 35 fixed paylines across 5 reels. Betting starts at just $0.20, with a maximum limit of $25. If you’re betting at the upper limit, you could win up to $250,000, thanks to the 10,000x maximum multiplier. The slot has medium volatility, offering a balanced mix of risk and reward. The RTP ranges between 95.81% and 96.1%.

The A-MAZE-CADES feature begins whenever you land a winning combination. The winning symbols are removed, and the remaining ones follow a path across the grid toward the Exit Position located in the lower left. New symbols then drop in from the rightmost reel, potentially creating new wins. This process continues as long as additional winning combinations are formed.

Cash Symbols show a bag of gold and carry values between 0.1x and 100x the bet. If a Cash Symbol reaches the Exit Position, it is added to the Cash Pot. The value in the Cash Pot can only be awarded when a Hyena Symbol reaches the Exit during the same spin. Any Cash Symbols or Hyena Symbols that reach the exit position will be collected. Once collected, they trigger their respective effects and are removed from the grid. Each symbol collected also advances the Progress Bar.

The Progress Bar is found above the reels and fills as you complete consecutive winning cascades in the base game. At the 2nd and 5th cascades, you may randomly trigger one of two features. The Low Symbols Removal feature eliminates all lower-value symbols at the end of the spin, giving you another chance to land a win. The X-Cut feature removes all symbols except for Hyenas, Wilds, and Cash Symbols with an X-shaped laser, and up to 5 Wild Symbols can be added to the grid during this event. If you reach 8 consecutive cascades, you will trigger the Free Spins feature.

There are three Hyena Symbols in the game, each functioning as a Wild. These symbols do not disappear after contributing to a win. When a Hyena reaches the Exit Position, it collects the Cash Pot and activates its unique ability. The Red Cash Prize Hyena adds a random prize of 5x to 1000x to the Cash Pot. The Blue Cash Multiplier Hyena multiplies the Cash Pot by 2x, 3x, 5x, or 10x. The Yellow Cash Magnet Hyena collects the value of all Cash Symbols currently visible on the grid.

The Wild Bomb can randomly appear during a non-winning spin. Up to 5 can appear at once. Each one explodes in a 3×3 area, destroying all surrounding symbols except for Hyenas, Wilds, and Cash Symbols. The bomb’s position is then converted into a Wild Symbol.

Free Spins are triggered by achieving 8 consecutive cascades and are retriggered by hitting 7 additional cascades during the feature. You can choose between two modes: Reset Cash Pot or Sticky Cash Pot. With Reset Cash Pot, you receive 6 Free Spins, and the Cash Pot resets after every spin. With Sticky Cash Pot, you receive 3 Free Spins, and the Cash Pot does not reset. During Free Spins, up to 3 Hyenas can appear. At the 2nd and 4th cascades during this feature, you may randomly trigger either the Low Symbols Removal or X-Cut feature.

Is the Hyena Heist slot the next Ocean’s Eleven?

In the slot world, true originality is rare. Most themes and features have been done to death, sometimes hundreds of times over. So when a game like the Hyena Heist slot from Gaming Corps manages to carve out something that actually feels fresh, it’s worth paying attention.

The standout is the A-MAZE-CADES feature, a clever twist on the usual Cascade mechanic. Instead of dropping straight down, symbols shuffle their way across the grid toward the Exit, turning every spin into a slow-burn getaway sequence. It’s not the first time Gaming Corps has played with this idea (see Wet and Wild Beavers), but here, it’s sharper and more strategic.

On top of that, you’ve got collectible Cash Symbols worth up to 100x and a trio of unique Hyena Symbols that trigger different effects when they make it to the Exit. It all adds up to a gameplay loop that stays interesting far longer than most.

Add in a slick theme and some crisp visuals, and you’ve got something that punches well above average. The Hyena Heist slot is an easy 10/10.
