Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao appealed to the government to announce an ex gratia of ₹25 lakh each to the families of the victims who died in the fire accident near Gulzar Houz in Charminar on Sunday (May 18, 2025).

Seventeen members of a family died in the accident. Telangana government announced ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh each to the families. Besides, Prime Minister Narendra Modi too announced ₹2 lakh from PMNRF to the next of the kin of each deceased and ₹50,000 to those injured. 

The BRS working president, who attended a condolence meeting held at Mahavir Mandir in Charminar on Monday (May 19, 2025), urged all shop and warehouse owners to get their fire audits done without delay. 

“In densely populated areas, even a small spark can lead to a devastating tragedy. Please ensure that fire extinguishers are functional and the wiring is safe. I also request the government to ensure that fire tenders and ambulances are fully equipped with water, oxygen masks, and other essentials. It’s crucial to train people to handle fire emergencies through regular mock drills, not just in summer but during monsoons too,” he said. The Minister also visited the Attapur residence of the victims’ family.
