The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert warning of very heavy rains for two districts in Kerala on Wednesday (May 21, 2025).
Kasaragod and Kannur were put on orange alert warning of rain in the range of 115.6 mm-204.4 mm of rains in the next 24 hours, while a yellow alert has been issued for Kozhikode and Wayanad districts warning of isolated heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the conditions are becoming favourable for the onset of the south-west monsoon over Kerala in the next 3-4 days.
The conditions are also likely to become favourable for further advance of the monsoon over more parts of South Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Maldives, the Comorin area, parts of Lakshadweep, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, South and the central Bay of Bengal, the northeast Bay of Bengal and some parts of northeastern States during the same period, said IMD in a release here.
