The Karnataka Home Department has issued an order on Friday hiking special allowance for police personnel during special duty on festivals, special days and during elections from ₹200 per head to ₹300 per head.

This had been a long-pending demand following several instances of bad quality of food being served to police personnel. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had announced that the allowance will be hiked to ₹300 in the State Budget for 2025-26, he presented in March earlier this year.
