Chief Minister reaffirms commitment to salary revision for government employees

Signalling the government’s commitment to revising the salaries of government employees and teachers, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that necessary announcements would be made at the appropriate time.

He was inaugurating the 62nd State conference of the Kerala NGO Union at Pathirappally in Alappuzha on Sunday.

“There are people who ask what has happened to the salary revision. There is no room for confusion on the matter. The government is taking the necessary steps. We will make announcements at the right time,” the Chief Minister said.

Mr. Vijayan said that two instalments of dearness allowance had been disbursed, and the rest would be released in a time-bound manner.

The Chief Minister said that the government had allotted two more installments of welfare pension and would soon clear dues. He said that by November 1, 2025, extreme poverty would be eradicated in the State. All the 64,000 families identified as extremely poor will be lifted out of poverty, Mr. Vijayan said.

He said that despite the Centre attempting to choke Kerala financially and stall its development, the nine years of Left Democratic Front (LDF) rule had brought development to all sectors in the State. “The LDF government has been able to overcome various difficulties and put the State on the path of development. The government has lived up to the expectations of the people,” Mr. Vijayan said.

The Chief Minister said the government had revived sectors including public education, health and higher education that were in disarray. “When the LDF government came to power in 2016, 1,000 government schools in the State were on the verge of closure. We revived the public education sector. A big change happened. Buildings have been renovated. Further, schools have been transformed into hi-tech institutions with smart classrooms, modern libraries, labs and other facilities. NITI Aayog has acknowledged that Kerala now has the best public education system in the country. Likewise, positive changes have happened in health, higher education and other sectors in the State,” Mr. Vijayan said, adding that Kerala is turning into a knowledge hub.

P.P. Chitharanjan, MLA, NGO Union leaders- M.V. Sasidharan, M.A. Ajithkumar and others attended.
