Or does he look like he’s just been released from prison with a vendetta against digestion, ready to serve you deep-fried pigeon intestines and call it “fusion”? If the chef from Hacksaw’s Fred’s Food Truck slot is anything to go by, your intestines better get ready to get rocked.

By Hacksaw standards, the Fred’s Food Truck slot is dead simple. When a Green Chilli symbol lands as part of a winning combination, it reveals a multiplier. The One Chilli symbol reveals either 1x, 2x, or 5x. The Two Chilli symbol reveals 10x, 15x, or 20x. The Three Chilli symbol reveals 25x, 50x, or 100x. All revealed multiplier values on the reels are added together to form a single Global Multiplier. After being tallied, the Chilli symbols are removed from the grid as part of the tumble mechanic. Any win on that spin is then multiplied by the Global Multiplier. In the base game, this multiplier resets at the beginning of each new spin.

Hacksaw has created some of my favourite slots of all time. The Fred’s Food Truck slot will not make it onto that list. That’s not to say there’s anything inherently wrong with it, though. The slot has a solid theme that is well executed and has enough bonus features to keep you engaged. On the graphics side, I especially enjoyed noticing the stickers on the side of the truck feature characters from some of Hacksaw’s other games. It’s a nice little Easter egg for anyone who’s spent enough time with the provider’s catalogue to catch the references.

My biggest gripe with the Fred’s Food Truck slot is that it’s just a little ordinary. It takes no big swings and it’s stylistically very safe, especially considering what Hacksaw has pulled off in the past. That being said, I still give this one an eight out of ten.
