Need to expedite Machilipatnam port construction works, says Infrastructure and Investments Minister

Minister for Roads and Buildings, Infrastructure and Investments, B.C. Janardhan Reddy, along with Ministers Kollu Ravindra and Vangalapudi Anitha, APSRTC Chairman Konakalla Narayana Rao and AP Maritime Board (APMB) Chairman Damacharla Sathya, inspected the Machilipatnam port construction works on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Janardhan Reddy stressed the need to expedite the works and said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was keen on speedy completion of the long – pending project.  He said that the development of inland waterways from the port would be of great use to people in the hinterland. Completion of the port would create a tremendous opportunity for the establishment of port-based industries in and around Machilipatnam.

Officials told the Minister that 43% of the construction of four berths, roadworks and the connectivity to Vijayawada has been completed.

Later, the Ministers and others visited the Machilipatnam fishing harbour which is under construction, and said the government was committed to completing it by March 2026.

Mr. Janardhan Reddy has said that the fishing harbour work had come to a grinding halt during the YSR Congress Party regime, and the present government was taking it forward with due priority. District Collector D.K. Balaji, APMB  CEO Praveen Aditya and others were present.
