Mysuru slips to 15th place from 7th in SSLC exam

Mysuru district has witnessed a sharp decline in its SSLC performance, slipping from 7th place in 2024 to 15th place in 2025, despite being considered a key educational hub in Karnataka. This year, the district recorded a pass percentage of 67.83, with 24,117 out of 35,557 students clearing the exam. Among the successful candidates, 13,943 were girls and 10,174 boys.

In 2021, Musuru was placed 11th place in SSLC results and the ranking dropped to 19th in 2023. However, in 2024, the result improved and the position went up to 7th place. But this year, despite the claims by the officials from the Department of Public Instruction, Mysuru to better the results, the position has once again dropped, to 15th place.

Two students have secured 625 out of 625 marks in the examination. The number of students who have scored 624 marks out of 625 is four, while five students have bagged 623 marks out of 625. Eleven students have secured 611 marks out of 625 and nine and 12 students have scored 621 marks out of 625 620 marks out of 625 respectively.

A total of 43 students have scored marks between 620 and 625 and they include 30 from unaided schools, 11 from aided schools and two from the government schools. While there has been no zero percent results this year among government schools, only one unaided school has secured a nil result. A total of 26 schools, including 20 unaided, five government and one aided schools, have scored 100 percent results.

The block-wise results are like this – Mysuru south 79.13%, Mysuru Rural 74.65%, Nanjangud 71.26%, T. Narsipur 67.59%, K.R. Nagar 66.69%, Mysuru North 65.28%, Periyapatna 64.20%, Hunsur 58.51%, and H.D. Kote 57.48%. The total pass percentage is 67.83 – 57.95 boys and 77.46 girls.

A note issued by the office of the Deputy Director of Public Instruction said 62.57% results had been secured by aided schools, 62.74% by the government schools and 76.89% by the unaided schools. As many as 11,440 students have failed the examination.

The percentage of results among the rural schools is 64.79 while that of urban schools is 71.43. If 12,501 students from rural areas passed the exam, 11,616 students from urban schools have achieved success in the examination, the results of which were announced on Friday.

A total of 13,139 students in English medium and 10,975 in Kannada medium have passed the exam – 78.36% in English medium, 58.44% in Kannada medium, and 33.33% in Urdu medium, the note said.
