A public library became operational in the old police station building in Tiryani, once a Naxal hotbed in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, on Saturday. This marked the opening of a gateway for a bright future for local youths in the predominantly tribal dominated district.

The old police station building has been converted into a public library under the supervision of Asifabad ASP S. Chitharanjan as per the instructions of Superintendent of Police D.V. Srinivas Rao.

The old structure was renovated, painted, furnished and equipped with drinking water and other facilities, police said.

The initiative aims to foster a culture of reading among youth and provide access to books and other reading material for expanding the frontiers of knowledge.

The library has been stocked with around 200 books, including materials for competitive exams, personality development, moral education, motivational books and patriotic literature.

Addressing the gathering at the inaugural of the library in Tiryani on Saturday, Mr. Chitharanjan said, “Through this library, we aim to guide the youth towards a better future.”

Describing the library as a treasure trove of knowledge, he exhorted tribal youth to make optimum utilisation of the facility to pursue higher education and boost their employment opportunities.

Rebbena Circle Inspector Budde Swamy, Tiryani Sub-Inspector Sreekanth, members of various tribal organisations and youth associations and students, were present.
