A couple was found murdered under suspicious circumstances at their residence in Surya Nagar, Alwal. The deceased were identified as Kanakiah, 70, a former watchman and his wife Rajamma, 60, a homemaker. They had been living in the neighbourhood for the past six months.

According to the Alwal police, a Dial 100 alert was received on Sunday morning. “Concerned relatives had gone to check on the couple after Rajamma failed to visit them to collect milk packet, as she usually did. Upon entering the house, they found the couple dead. Rajamma’s body reportedly showed signs of assault and a stick was found nearby suggesting it may have been used in the attack,” police said. The family also reported that Rajamma’s gold chain was missing.

The Alwal police registered a case of murder and began investigation.
