Hike in tariff on water supplied in tanker lorries draws flak

The Consortium of Flat and Villa Owners’ Association has flayed the decision of the authorities to increase the tariff on drinking water supplied in tanker lorries.

Terming it unjustifiable and unilateral, the association said that many people relied on water supplied in tanker lorries due to non-availability of water provided by the Kerala Water Authority.

It reminded that a decision by tanker lorry operators to hike the tariff by up to 55% had earlier been frozen by the District Collector. The association would commence an agitation if there was any delay in rolling back the hike, according to a release.
