Andhra Pradesh liquor scam: SIT issues notices to former bureaucrats

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating into the alleged liquor scam served notices on retired IAS officer and former Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) Secretary, K. Dhanunjaya Reddy, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Krishna Mohan Reddy and Bharati Cements Director Govindappa Balaji, in liquor scam.

A team of SIT officials, visited the houses of the three accused, located in Hyderabad, and served notices to their family members. Investigation officers of SIT has summoned them on May 11 (Sunday).

“SIT has directed the three accused to appear before the investigation officers in Vijayawada. The accused have been absconding for the last few days, and the police searched their houses, at different locations, in Vijayawada and Hyderabad,” an officer said on Saturday.

It was alleged that the YSR Congress Party leaders encouraged new liquor policy, floated new brands during YSRCP rule, received kickbacks from the distillery companies and caused huge loss to the government.

SIT already questioned former MP V. Vijaya Sai Reddy, Rajampet MP P.V. Midhun Reddy and others in the liquor scam.

They arrested the then IT Advisor, Kessireddy Raja Shekhar Reddy, who was the alleged main conspirator in the scam, his personal assistant Dilip Kumar and another accused, Chanaky. All of them were sent to judicial custody.
