All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge will unveil a six-foot statue of Lord Buddha crafted from panchaloha (five metals) and another four-foot statue made of stone at Basava Nagar here on Monday.
Rahul Yuvaka Sangha advisor Hanumanth Bodankar, addressing a press conference on Saturday, said that Satyasheela Mahatheory from Akola, Aryasheela Mahatheory from Nanded, Bhikkhuni Sumana of Kalaburagi, Bhikkhuni Sanghamitra Bhopal, Bhikkhuni Boodhichitta of Nagpur and Bhikkhuni Sheelarakshit from Wamshi will participate on the occasion.
Mr. Bodankar said that Basava Nagar holds significance for Mr. Kharge as the veteran leader used to live in this area during his earlier days and began his political career from this locality. Both the statues of the Buddha have been donated by Mr. Kharge himself, he added.
