Namma Metro services on the Purple Line were disrupted early morning on May 23 due to a technical glitch at the Whitefield (Kadugodi) metro station in Bengaluru, according to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).
In a media release issued early on May 23, BMRCL announced that trains had not been operating from Whitefield (Kadugodi) station since 5 a.m. because of the glitch. During the disruption, services were limited to the stretch between Hope Farm Channasandra and Challaghatta metro stations.
Operations on the Green Line, however, remained unaffected.
Later in the day, BMRCL informed that normal services on the Purple Line, including operations between Whitefield (Kadugodi) and Challaghatta, had been fully restored by 9.55 a.m.
The Purple Line, the busiest corridor in the Namma Metro network, connects the eastern and western parts of the city, including IT hubs such as Whitefield, making it a vital link for thousands of daily commuters. Commuters travelling during the early morning hours experienced delays and were forced to seek alternative means of transport until normal service was restored.
The cause of the glitch was not specified. A BMRCL official said it was related to power issues, but did not elaborate.
