Three persons feared dead while at least 10 are believed to be injured as fans gathered outside M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru to celebrate the victory of RCB in the 2025 IPL championship, on June 4.
Thousands of fans had been converged at M. Chinnaswamy stadium since early evening in expectation of celebrating with the RCB team that was expected to turn up in the stadium with the trophy.
Roads in and around the stadium were choked and traffic police had trouble ensuring smooth movement of vehicles in the central business district as fans converged by road, Namma Metro, and on foot.
The Hindu has learnt that some fans were injured as people gathered at the gates of the stadium where the cricket team was expected to turn up to celebrate the much-awaited victory.
Sources told The Hindu that the injured persons were taken to Bowring hospital in Shivajinagar.
This is a developing story, and details are awaited.
Before the team was expected to arrive at the stadium, they were felicitated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar at the Vidhan Soudha.
